Grizzly Bassmasters finish well in nationals

The Golden Sierra Grizzly Bassmasters have returned from the High School Fishing National Championship on Lake Hartwell, South Carolina. The last weigh-in was July 2.

“Our final placements were disappointing but also rather good considering none of us ever heard of the lake,” said coach Ed Hawkins.

Luke Gerondakis and Jon Loya finish in 61st place out of 397, which put them in the top 15% of the field. This was their second national championship and it was a great improvement over their bad luck last year on the Mississippi River in Wisconsin. Their boat captain, Matt Vella, is a super guy and really good stick. The guys overcame alternator problems on the second practice day and kept going….Full Story
