Carroll has four sign to play college sports
A very small percentage of high school athletes get the opportunity to play at the next level. On Friday, Carroll County High School seniors Trystan Amick, Darrien Byrd, Kacey Ogburn and Caleb Stephenson jnoined that small group by announceing their college choices in soccer, football, volleyball and bass fishing.
Stephenson signed his letter of intent to join the bass fishing program at Campbellsville (Ky.) University, an up and coming sport now in its sixth year there.
Stephenson, who has fished at Carroll County with teammate John Glauber, recently qualified for his third consecutive KHSAA state finals and will fish compete at Kentucky Lake near Gilbertsville on Saturday.
Stephenson said one of the big reasons chose he Campbellsburg is that the college “has a great education program.”
“It is a great private college and I want to come back here and teach some day,” Stephenson said of his decision. “It’s exciting but it is not really common for a lot of people to go to the big leagues. I’m excited to do it for my school to show that kids from Carroll County can be able to do what they love.”…Full Story
