Date club founded:  September 2012.

Club founders:  Students: Derek Benz and Blake Angle.   Teachers/Parents: Terrel Carlisle, Jamey Sickafoose, Rob Reeder.

Club affiliations: The club has always fished with the Alabama Student Angler Bass Fishing Association (ASABFA), two years with Alabama B.A.S.S. Nation and several of the club’s teams have also fished TBF and B.A.S.S. sanctioned trails.

Club advisor and assistant coaches: Terrel Carlisle.

Frequent boat captains: Chris Cummings, Steve Wilson, Hunter McCarty, Nick Wiley, Sam Underwood, Micah Cummings, Jamey Sickafoose, Jason Tolbert, Greg Franklin, Hank Hayes, Andy Chappell.

Club accomplishments: CHS has finished among the top 40 schools and qualified for the ASABFA state championship each year with a second-place finish in the state championship in 2016 and numerous top 10 finishes in ASABFA qualifying tournaments.  The past three years the club has had a team qualify and fish the Bassmaster High School National Championship and had numerous anglers go on to fish at the collegiate level.

Other annual activities:  The fishing team volunteers with the Mission of Hope, a community outreach program. The team has also participated in the Toys for Tots program, 5 Mile Creek Cleanup and the Renew Our Rivers program.
