Montgomery (Texas) Independent School District (MISD) Fishing Team
Date club founded: January 2014. No competitions were held, but club members did civic duties such as clean up ramps and parks and established the Montgomery High School (MHS) Angler’s Club by-laws and rules. Membership was 14 MHS Students.

Club affiliations: Independent club competing in the Texas High School Bass Association.

Frequent boat captains: Parents, relatives, members of the community as long as they pass the background check, have qualified boats with $300,000 liability insurance and must be at least 21. Two of our outstanding members of the community that do not have a son or daughter fishing on the squad are Danny Ferraro and John Rankin. Both donate their time and talents to the team.
Club accomplishments: 2014-15 was the first year of competition for the club in the Houston High School Fishing Conference. MHS Angler’s Club won the Conference Championship in its first year of competition. Membership grew to 22 MHS Students, guided by Mark Hooker and Steve Keating.
2015-16 was the first year that the MHS Angler’s Club competed in the Texas High School Bass Association (THSBA), Houston Division. The team won the Conference, finished fourth in Regionals, and seventh in State. Membership swelled to 82 students from MHS.
2016-17 was the third year of competition for the MHS Anglers with 84 members and Mrs. Toni Luedke joined the squad as a co-sponsor with Mark Hooker. This team was the most successful team to date, winning three out of five Conference Tournaments, finishing second in the other two and securing their third Conference Title in a row. This team went on to win the Regional Championship, as well as the State Championship. This was the also the first year that students that qualified for State were granted the opportunity under Phil Eaton, Principal of MHS, to earn a letter jacket for this distinction. The members of the 2017 State Team were also awarded State Championship Rings.
2017-18 was the last year that the squad would be named the MHS Angler’s Club, as the following year Lake Creek High School would be opening. Membership was still in the 80’s, under the guidance of Mark Hooker and Toni Luedke. The team won its fourth straight Conference Title in the Houston Division of the THSBA. The MHS Angler’s also won their second Regional Championship, but fell to third at the State Championship.
2018-19 was the first year of the MISD Fishing Team, as a combined team from both Montgomery and Lake Creek High Schools. Membership grew to 92, and the sponsorship/advisor responsibilities were divided by Mark Hooker at Lake Creek and Toni Luedke at Montgomery High School. This was the first year the team did not win the Conference, coming in second place out of 46 high schools in the Houston Division of the THSBA. The newly formed squad also finished in second at Regionals and fourth at State.
2019-20 saw the team grow to 94 anglers, and as of this date, the MISD Fishing Team is sitting in first place in the Conference after three tournaments. Currently, the MISD Fishing Team is the largest and most decorated team in the history of the THSBA.
