Franklin County High anglers qualify for Bassmaster championship

Rebel anglers Jones and Drake earn berth to national championship

Two members of the Franklin County High School bass fishing team recently qualified for the 2020 Bassmaster High School National Championship while competing at an event in Louisiana.

Austin Jones and DJ Drake were among the 180 teams that participated in a tournament at the Toledo Bend Reservoir in the city of Many, Louisiana.

The duo of Jones and Drake placed fifth overall to earn a spot in the national championship event to be held later this year.

The top 18 anglers at the tournament earned berths to the national event.

Jones and Drake brought in five fish weighing a total of 15 pounds, 1 ounce. The top finishers for the day were Maverick Winford and Ian Ratliff of Atascocita High School with a total weight of 18 pounds, 4 ounces.
