New Providence hosts fishing rodeo
The weather held off just long enough Friday evening for New Providence Baptist Church’s annual Kids Fishing Rodeo.
From 5:30-8 p.m., families gathered along the bank of the Tellico and Fort Loudoun canal ramp, tied on a lure and went fishing.
“I think the community likes this kind of event,” the Rev. Mark Caldwell, New Providence Baptist pastor, said. “This is a sportsman’s community and a lot of these kids this is the first time they’ve ever fished. We went into a lot of the elementary schools for the week, we took an angler in there, and he gives them a little fishing exhibition, shows them how to cast and all that stuff. … A lot of them have never fished, never caught a fish, and this is a big deal.”…Full Story
