LCHS Fishing team bringing home fish, and state titles
Lewis County High School’s BASS Nation team, which is made up of approximately 16 anglers, has been winning tournament after tournament over the last year, culminating in taking both first place and runner-up positions in this past weekend’s W.Va.BASS Nation High School State Championship.
The two-man team of juniors Kyle Gannon and Nic Kuhn brought home the state title with a five fish total weight of 12.92 pounds. Nipping at their heels in the event were their teammates, junior Jacob Heater and senior Eythan Wenzel, who nabbed the runner-up spot, bringing home five fish for a total weight of 12.15 pounds. Both teams have earned a berth in the National Championship at Kentucky Lake, which sits on the border between Kentucky and Tennessee, in August.
All four teams representing West Virginia at the prestigious event will hail from Lewis County as the foursome will be joined by the teams of Ryan Skidmore and Christian Mullins and Dakota Stout and Lucas Wright.
