Lincoln Fishing Teams Finish Well On Truman
Another High School Fishing Tournament in the books! It was very cold and extremely windy but 272 teams competed for the top prize on Truman Lake, Saturday, April 14, 2018 in the National Youth Fishing Association tournament series. Take off was at 7:00 AM out of Long Shoal Marina and the final weigh in was at 3:00 PM. The teams consisted of two high/middle school anglers and their boater; that is 272 boaters and 544 anglers who braved the cold and windy conditions.
The Cardinals had three fishing teams to compete in the tournament. Rider Smith and Austin Hansen finished 4th with 15.25 pounds and had 3rd big bass with a 6.32 weight. They received gift cards for their big bass, a trophy and $200.00 for their 4th place finish. Cole Smith and Ely Tolliver finished 16th with 6.36 pounds, just one spot away from $200. Gabe Mehrens and Drake Peterson finished 21st with 5.79 pounds. It was a tough day on the water!
The National Youth Fishing Association offered an opportunity for the youth anglers to earn two $400.00 scholarships. The Association gave them a question that they were to write an essay on. Their boat number was put in the drawing when the essay was turned in at weigh in.
