Fishing team dedicates season to late teen

The Northside Anglers recently took first place in the Tyler Bigham City County Tournament, the L&L Marine tournament named after their teammate who died in a traffic crash last year.
Shaun Tyler Bigham, 16, was returning home for the day when his truck left the road and struck several trees less than 100 yards from his home on Northside Drive on Aug. 22, 2016.
He was a member of Northside High School’s bass fishing team and had hoped to one day fish on the University of Alabama team.
Tyler was a charter member of the Northside Anglers and would have been a senior this year. Classmates and former fishing partners Gabe Sanford and Jake Pearson dedicated this year to Tyler and wore his jerseys when they won the tournament on Aug. 5. Bob Hale of L&L Marine renamed the city-county tournament in honor of Tyler.
The top six-man teams from each school competes for a three-foot tall trophy that is displayed at the winning school for the year. Northside won the team event with two-man teams consisting of Sanford and Pearson, Kole Key and Logan Bolton, and Nathan Harris and Brantly Hodo….Read More
