High school fishing: Oakwood duo earns ninth spot
JEFFERSON — The Oakwood High School duo of Ethan Edgemon and Trisdon Bynum earned a top-10 finish at the Texas High School Bass Association East Division Tournament on Saturday.
Bynum and Edgemon caught five fish totaling 11.43 pounds, which was good enough for ninth place at Lake O’ The Pines.
Saturday’s fishing featured overcast skies, and mild temperatures.
The top-two teams were separated by one-one hundredth of a pound.
White Oak’s Dylon Jones and Caden Cowser caught five fish for 20.17 pounds, and the Bullard tandem of Tyler Feer and Bailey Kurtz were second (20.16).
Jacob Bizzell and Jason Stanaland turned in Frankston’s best performance, reeling in four fish weighing 7.28 pounds for 28th. The Indians’ Garret Bean and Ryan Fitzgerald were 38th (5.54 pounds).
Elkhart’s two-person team consisting of Trent Huff and Bryson Adair had the Elks’ best effort, catching three fish for 5.54 pounds (also 38th overall).
Frankston’s Jake Smith and Josh Porter caught one fish, but it was a good size at 2.71 pounds (53rd). Kaden Loebig and Jesse Owen caught a fish weighing 2.36 pounds.
Three more Frankston two-person teams caught one fish (Coy Elton and Trenton Taylor, 1.78; Ethan Dowling and Jett Riley, 1.76; Cash Gideon and James Landry, 1.63).
