Rhea anglers reflect on trip to National Championship

Rhea County sent three teams to last weekend’s Mossy Oak Bassmaster High School National Championship and while the first place title went to Briarwood Christian School’s (Ala.) Grayson Morris and Tucker Smith, the locals said it was a memorable experience out on Kentucky Lake.

The dynamic duo out of Birmingham, Ala. earned a $4,5000 scholarship towards their college education with 15 fish weighing a total of 50 lbs., 1 oz. They led wire-to-wire in the tournament and proved last year’s win was no fluke, capturing their second straight National title.

Henry County High School’s Mercedes Ellis and Gage Sherrod were second with 48lbs., 1 oz. and Tyler Finley and Hunter Jones of Mount Pleasant took third place with 41 lbs., 12 oz….Full Story and Photos
