High school fishing: Rough day at Lake Fork for Cayuga

ALBA — Angling sure wasn’t easy on Nov. 17 as the Cayuga High School fishing team competed at the Texas High School Bass Association Central Division Tournament along Lake Fork.

This marked the final competition of the fall schedule.

Two Cayuga teams earned top-50 placements.

Ryder Sparkman and Blane Scheppler teamed up for 13th place, weighing three fish with a grand weight of 3.86 pounds.

Considering Sparkman and Scheppler were among the top-11 teams in the “Angler of the Year” standing, they should remain in position — or possibly improve their spot once the numbers have been crunched completely.

With the fact Sparkman and Scheppler caught less than four pounds — and placed that high — should show how hard it was to fish.

Zack Wright was a solo fisherman, and he weighed two fish (2.33 pounds) for 26th spot.

Evan Pate caught one fish as a solo act, weighing 1.73 pounds. Christian Bragg and Ramsey Oden also caught one fish (1.22)….Full Story
