Trey Schroeder – Heading to McKendree University

Signing on with McKendree U. bass team

It’s hard to believe I just graduated from high school and am already starting to look forward to fall and heading off to college!

It will probably come as no surprise to anyone that knows me that my passion of fishing will continue on with my college choice. I was lucky enough to be accepted to McKendree University in Lebanon, Ill. It’s an awesome school both academically and their fishing program, which is excellent. I had an official signing at my high school with Coach Jon Rinderer this spring which made it all that more exciting.

McKendree was my first choice by far due to Coach Rinderer and his family who continually showed interest in their current team members as well as his future team. The fishing program is one of the top-ranked collegiate programs and very well organized and seemed like a group of really good people that treat each other as family. And most importantly was the academic program offered there. I think it will be the best fit for me to succeed not only as a fisherman, but in my studies. The class sizes are smaller than a lot of universities allowing for more personal interaction and bonding with fellow students and teachers. I hope to major in Environmental Biology, which is offered at McKendree.

I also really liked that the school is located in a rural setting close to numerous great fishing locations, and is away from home, but not too far. After visiting the school I was even more convinced since the campus is very nice, everyone seemed proud of their school and so happy to be there. Coach is very involved with the entire process and wants everyone to be successful. I’m super happy that he travels with the team, most fishing expenses are covered by the school and the coach goes out of his way to find top talent to make the team successful. I’m looking forward to school and being part of this awesome team.
