Waccamaw High wins SALTT bass division

Warriors sweep bass division at SALTT event

The Student Angler League Tournament Trail picked back up on April 14 as nearly 30 boats launched on a calm morning that turned into a strong south wind meeting them on the ride back to weigh-ins.

The Hawg Hunters from Waccamaw High School dominated the bass division. First place went to Bennett Lawshe and Matt Caines with 13.10 pounds. They also won the big fish award.

Second place was a mixed team with Wade Kelly having to fish in the high school division since his partner, Michael Paglio, attends Waccamaw High. The boys caught 10.71 pounds of fish while only fishing six of the allowed eight hours. Jackson Denny of Carolina Forest, who was fishing solo, nabbed third place with 10.03 pounds.

Conway Middle School students took the top two spots in the red drum division. First place went to Ashton Rouhselang and Lance Cooper with 6.68 pounds. They also took big fish honors. Second place went to Donovan Harris who fished solo and brought in 4.26 pounds. Third place went to Noah Payne and Kadyn Kellahan of Andrews High with 3.30 pounds….Full Story
