Valley bass club teams hope to reel in national titles
LEWISBURG — Gavin Enders said he and Cadin Sheesley have been competing in bass tournaments for four years and have done well because they know each other so well.
Last month the Mifflinburg Area High School juniors, who make up one two-member team in the Susquehanna Valley Bass Club, won the 2018 Bass Pro Shops FLW (Fishing League Worldwide) High School Fishing Raystown Lake Open. The win qualifies them for the national championship tournament next summer at a location yet to be announced.
The High School Fishing national champions will each receive a $5,000 college scholarship to the school of their choice.
Two other teams in the club qualified just last weekend to compete in the national tournament after their wins in the Pennsylvania B.A.S.S. Nation High School Championship, also at Raystown Lake. Daniel Walter and Ty Stroup, both 14 and Mifflinburg Area freshmen, took first in that competition and the team of Luke Rokavec, 13, a Mifflinburg Area eighth-grader, and Joshua Stroud, 12, a South Williamsport sixth-grader, took second….Full Story
